Hand carved out of soapstone by the Kisii tribe in Kenya, this little sculpture adds a fabulous pop of color to your decor. The artisans feel empowered through earning fair wages and can grown their earning potential through the additional marketing opportunities for their carvings outside of Kenya. The cooperative also designates 15% of their income to help orphans, widows, handicapped, elderly, and HIV/AIDS victims in the community. Each piece is touched three times in the process. The stone is first carved into the desired figure, then dyed the overall background color. Then the piece has design work etched into each one of those spots.
