The COASINYA Cooperative is a small group of young men who have all been apprenticed by master woodcarver Frederic Nyandwi. When Frederic first began working for himself in 1993, he dreamed of not only supporting himself, but teaching others the artistry as well. Through the years, he trained 13 apprentices, who went on to form a cooperative. He trained them well, as their workmanship and attention to detail shines through in every piece.
