About the artisan:
In Nepal, leprosy has been eradicated, but the stigma remains. Those cured, and their families, are still seen as unclean. This artisan group employs the families of the cured so they can earn a living making batik art. They begin with a plain piece of white cotton fabric, stamp the design, then use a process of dying and waxing to add the colors seen. Each color represents a step of dye and wax. At the end, the fully waxed fabric is crumpled to force breaks in the wax, then submerged in black dye for the appearance of fine line webbing over the entire piece. In addition to a fair wage, the artisans have access to medical benefits and educational opportunities that would otherwise not be available.
About us:

Made by hand is uniquely beautiful. Our products are made by humans, not mass produced on automated machines. Minor imperfections and variations are to be expected as a characteristic of the artistry. Please appreciate these individualities for what they are, a maker pouring their heart and soul into a unique and beautiful piece of work for you.
