Springstone is a prized stone of Zimbabwe that is sustainably sourced and mined on communal lands for the purpose of sculpting. It has a great versatility due to its ability to appear as two different stones, one pale in its unfinished and textured form, and a second dark when polished to a high shine. Artist Luke Jimu combines both the textured and polished springstone with recycled metal to create his figures capturing the tranquility of daily life. Springstone can range in color from grey to rust. Since each sculpture is carved from a unique piece of stone, variations in color will occur and only add to the beauty of each piece.
