Sandalwood, known for its aromatic properties, is carefully carved into a modern interpretation of Joseph and Mary holding a small carved bone Jesus. It makes a wonderful gift for collectors or people with limited space.
A small collective of 20 Mozambican artisans are combining the artistry passed down for generations with local and renewable resources to create beautiful sculptures. Based in impoverished zones in and around the Maputo City center, they pair aromatic sandalwood with white bone to create a stunning contrast in their figures.
