Product Description
Bring the fun into your kitchen with our felted wool potholders! They're thin enough to easily grab a casserole dish, yet thick enough that you won't feel the heat. Burn an edge or get a little sloppy? No worries at all. Simply run a little cold water on the spot, add a couple drops of dish detergent, and scrub gently with your finger and the stains typically come out. Great for yourself, but they make a perfect gift for hostess, foody, wedding, or house warmings!
Nora, the head of Hands of Hope Handicrafts, has an amazing vision to help hurting women. Her own background of domestic abuse gives her great empathy for the situation of women in her country. Her husband used to drink and abuse her, but through patience and counseling, he is in recovery. They work together to make objects of beauty and to represent their country's natural resources of leather and wool felt. This effort represents the family unity so badly needed in Kyrgyzstan. The couple now reaches out to the families of the women who sew for their workshop, helping them also try to overcome abuse and addiction so they can live together in harmony. In addition, by giving work to the women, it reduces the chance that they will seek work abroad, often falling into the deception of trafficking.
