Shuktara Handmade Paper was the first paper project in Bangladesh, starting in 1989. The artisans take great pride in creating perfect jute paper for decorated cards, lampshades, photo albums, gift boxes, stationery sets and wrapping paper. They buy the raw material, make the pulp, lift the paper, and dry the sheets, a lengthy process that takes skill and patience. SHP now employs 32 full time producers and 15 seasonal producers.
