Biborton Handmade Paper is in Barisal district in southern Bangladesh, a particularly disadvantaged and vulnerable area. Floods, droughts and high unemployment year after year have left the area poverty stricken. They have been making paper from jute, silk, and water hyacinth since 1993, employing artisans in the region.
