Product Description
Bring a little nod to Chilean culture in your holiday decor with this delightful regional nativity set from Chile. Made from 40% reused materials, these sets are sustainable as well as down right adorable. A perfect gift for nativity collectors or weddings.
Chile is a country of extremes, where desert, mountains, sea, ice and islands coexist; and this geographic diversity is reflected in a great diversity of native peoples. Through their figures, Artesania Tatitu wants to contribute to the identity and diffusion of Chilean culture, ranging from the north to the south, trying to capture the typical characteristics of each ethnic group or character. Their designs use at least 40% reused materials, rescuing the respect and love of their ancestors for the Earth. This is how TATITU embraces the Diaguita, Aymara, Rapa Nui, Tehuelche, Mapuche and Selknam cultures, as well as characters such as Chilotes and Huasos. The Chiloé Archipelago lies near the coast of southern Chile. The biggest of the islands is Chiloé, which means “land of sea gulls” and pronounced, Chee-lo-way. Archaeologists believe the islands have been settled by humans for at least 5,000 years. The people of the Chiloé Archipelago are known as Chilotes and are the descendants of Huilliche and Choncho Indians and the main language spoken is now Spanish.
