Product Description
The handmade "Armine"-themed potholder is a whimsical and popular design in our kitchen collection. Who can resist that Armenian style? We love this for a hostess gift, mother's day, the church ladies, or a stocking stuffer. This quirky design is also available in a standard potholder or in a more masculine "Armen" pattern.
Made by Lena and her husband Armen of Vardenis Sewing. Vardenis is a town in the Gegharkunik province of Armenia in the Lake Sevan region. The city is tucked away in the southeast corner of the lake. The area around Vardenis boasts some lovely small monasteries and chapels as well as majestic mountains and rolling valleys. Unfortunately, the town has severe unemployment, and many residents have migrated to Russia, abandoning their homes and businesses.
Striving to promote financial stability and sustainable economic development in the Republic of Armenia, this organization focuses on women as well as persons with disabilities. They offer the artisans opportunities for educational training as well as advancing their skills.
