Product Description
A pop of color can take your outfit from blah to hurrah! The multicolor texture of upcycled saris make every pair a one of a kind accent. They'll soon become your favorites on the days you need a special little something that makes you smile.
Aasha is a 100% sustainable jewelry line made by an artisan group of economically disadvantaged women. Using discarded saris and wrapping them over small wooden beads these women are able to create a very unique and colorful collection of jewelry. The wooden beads are scraps sourced from furniture factories nearby, and the fabric used to cover them comes from old, worn saris, collected all over India! No two beads will be the same. The challenges for many artisans are daunting. In India, their situation is especially challenging. Poverty is an immense problem, and the caste system makes it especially difficult to improve their economic situation. It's not only a matter of making a fair income, but having an income that's consistent. This requires a unique blend that marries their craftsmanship with a modern flair that makes their products highly marketable. When done well, like through this cooperative the partnership supports cultural heritage, creative expression, and fair trade practices, all while looking fabulous dangling from your ears.
