Product Description

An earth friendly alternative for your new nativity set! Made from used newsprint, this set is a truly unique addition to your seasonal decor. Old newspapers are cut and formed around wire frames to make these one of a kind figures. It's a conversation piece to be sure!

The women in the regions around Trujillo have a tenacity that is limitless. Many tell a similar tale, moving from village to village during their youth, as their parents were trying to support the family. Children lost to disease and poor medical care. Most lost their homes and all of their possessions when Hurricane Mitch came through in 1998. They have rebuilt their mud and thatch homes, but are still doing whatever they can to find enough income to support their families and provide an education for their children. They are using soda cans, snack bags, tuno bark, beads, fabric, and newspaper to make nativities. Each set showing the individuality of the woman who makes it.
