They may be wearing a tie, but their heart is behind the wheel with this fun tie bar! This tie bar features a cabochon of Fordite. Fordite, also known as Detroit agate, was formed in the auto plants of Michigan. As cars were hand sprayed and baked, layers of enamel paint built up on the tracks and skids. As the process was repeated thousands of times, the deposits grew to be several inches thick. Each piece of Fordite is unique as the colors vary depending on the cars painted on that specific line. They make a wonderful gift celebrating the history of the automotive industry.
