So much more than a wooden bowl, this delightful serving piece is made from the bark of a cork burl! Cork is found on the Iberian Peninsula in vast planted groves. It is harvested every 9 years, between which the bark regrows, making it a renewable resource. The interior surface of the bark is impermeable and anti-bacterial, hence food safe. The best market for cork is the wine industry, however many other products are made from cork. Dense and nonabsorbent, it is ideal for use in garden, bath, and kitchen environments. Left outside, the bowl will silver in color, but will not rot.
